What is SAF?
Specialist Automotive Finance (SAF) was introduced by the Finance & Leasing Association (FLA) in 2007 to boost professionalism in dealerships and increase consumer confidence in car finance. The SAF Expert competence test assesses dealer staff on their knowledge of motor finance products and the regulations that govern their sale in showrooms. The test must be retaken every 12 months to ensure that salespeople’s knowledge is up to date.
The SAF Expert training and test is reviewed by the FLA and London Institute of Banking & Finance (LIBF) each year. The training is accredited by LIBF. Over 35,000 staff across the motor retail, finance and broker industries take the test each year, with hundreds of thousands having been completed since 2007.
