The Lending Code sets out standards of good practice for the finance and leasing industry. It includes commitments made by our members which go above and beyond the law and is intended to reassure anyone who applies for finance that they are doing business with reputable organisations.

The Code includes key commitments and principles with specific sections on motor finance, which we expect our members to follow.

The FLA also operates a conciliation procedure for consumer complaints under the Lending Code and has an independent arbitration scheme operated by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. These schemes are free to consumers.
